Changing tune over bridge

RE: Bridge renaming short-sighted (Letters, June 28). Has it occurred to members of city council that by approving a significant name change to the historic and famously regarded Redwood Bridge, they may be on the hook to pay a revisionist fee to singer-songwriter Neil Young to update his iconic tune Heart of Gold?

The classic song may now go "I've been to Hollywood, I've been to Lazarenko/They caused commotion for a bridge so old" -- fine words, but lacking in meaning to a bunch of aging hipsters.

City council voted unanimously to rename the Redwood Bridge after former councillor Harry Lazarenko, who spent two stints on council spanning 30 years.
