City disregarding cyclists

The photo above is a clear example of our city's disregard for the health and welfare of our cycling public. I noted the hazard while traversing the path a week ago; the fact it was unchanged a week later prompted me to take the picture.

Unfortunately, I can't take pictures of bike lane markers and lines that don't exist, or are so badly faded they wouldn't show up. Most streets that have designated bike lanes haven't been repainted for years. By now, most motorists have forgotten these lanes even exist.

This is not about budget; in its kindest form, this is a lack of accountability on the part of city administration. Negligence would be a more apt description.
