Clowning with our finances
Re: Tough times overseas hit home (Dec. 28). It would appear Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is a firm believer in the age-old adage "Do as I say, not as I do."
With a $26-billion deficit looming, Flaherty has been continually warning Canadians to get "their" expenses in order so as to avoid personal financial ruin.
Good advice. Unfortunately, it's a warning his own government doesn't believe in following. But apparently it's a common trait among those who spend other people's money; they're called politicians.
