Those who believe cottage owners are privileged or simply afford losses from flooding should consider the following scenario.
Suppose our provincial government took large chunks out of your investment account or pension plan and decided someone else needed it more. What would your response be?
Like any investor, I recognize there is risk in markets changing or property values fluctuating. What I had not anticipated was my own provincial government deciding someone else's investment was more important than mine, and deciding equal compensation was not required.
Even more cruel is to see the many Manitobans condoning it.
