F-35s are useless expense
Re: Auditor strafes F-35 decision (April 4). Why do we need the F-35 aircraft, or any other fighter aircraft, at all? Their only purpose is to kill, and more often than not, innocent civilians.
They cannot rescue people from sinking ships, pour water on burning forests, deliver sandbags to flooded areas, track and locate missing people in blizzards or on mountain peaks, nor can they safely deliver workers to oil rigs off Canada's coastline.
They cannot even effectively ascertain what foreign vessels are doing in our Arctic waters, with respect to their trying to access Canadian resources.
Yes, I can hear all F-35 supporters screaming: "For security, stupid." But security from whom? If 10 years in Iraq (yes, we were there) and Afghanistan have taught us anything, it is: Why follow other fools into needless, wasteful and costly endeavours, in both lives and dollars?
Surely we can spend $30 billion to $40 billion on more useful purposes, and solely for Canadians, given it is Canadian tax dollars being expended.
