Flying flag for freedom

Re: Tory MPs complain of being muzzled (March 27). Congratulations to the Tory MPs who finally have stood up against what we in the voting public have been saying for years; the prime minister or the zealots in the PMO have trouble grasping the concept of a free and democratic society, which includes his caucus members.

Disagreement is not a treasonable offence, and Canada is not a fiefdom. There is a great difference between toeing the party line and being muzzled.

Stifling of dissent is not the hallmark of a free society. It is the beginning of the end. Maybe the two brave MPs will be thrown out of caucus. But it would be for a good cause. They are doing the job they were elected to do, representing their constituents without fear.
