Re: Wrapped in the arms of love (Aug. 20). I am blown away at the number of people who attended. It's quite amazing how a community comes together to honour the lives of two aboriginal people, whose issues become more personal once you assign a name and a face to them.
It would be nice if the city put up something to remember and honour Faron Hall -- perhaps a statue or plaque, for example, along the river walk in Kildonan Park?
Where were all of the family members, friends and strangers when they were alive? Why didn't you have the time and effort to be there for them before this tragedy took place?
Are there any others under the guidance of CFS that need help today instead of tomorrow at a vigil?
These tragedies will continue until everyone involved steps up and takes responsibility for their own actions. I believe the responsibility rests with those that choose to have children and then abandon them to the "system" and mean streets without proper care and guidance. Tears should be reserved for the victims, not the perpetrators.
These are not the first tragedies these families have experienced. Perhaps if we could respond to the trauma these families have been subjected to in supportive ways more often and reliably, we could stop the cycle where tragedy begets more tragedy, where trauma invites trauma. They didn't ask for it and don't deserve it. Here we have opened our arms in a wider circle than we've seen before -- maybe there is hope for us all.
Re: Gold vanishes (Aug. 20). After sleeping on it and seeing the picture of the two players in the new uniforms, they still make the players look like human cannonballs ready to be shot out of a cannon at a circus.
Well, at least they can hit the field with a bang.
I think Reebok has totally missed the mark on these Signature Uniforms league-wide. Who suggested eliminating gold? We are the Blue and Gold!
Coming next week -- 75 per cent off specialty uniforms at the Bomber store.
-- Everybody Up
I'd rather see solid tackling as part of their new look rather than new uniforms. If they win, I'll like the colours a lot more than if they lose.
