Harper is unafraid to make the tough decisions

Stephen Harper may well be the best prime minister that we have had since Lester B. Pearson.
The Liberals and the NDP know it and they don't like it. Harper may not be popular but he is doing a great job considering the difficulties our biggest customer, the U.S, and the rest of the developed world are facing.
Another bridge is needed between Windsor and Detroit to keep our main trade corridor operating, and the Americans are late with their cash (it may not be forthcoming at all). But the prime minister sees the big picture and Canada is forging ahead on our own. This is no small feat given that the price tag exceeds $500 million.
Thomas Mulcair, leader of the Opposition, blames Harper for each of the 500,000 lost manufacturing jobs. This much-needed trade corridor between Windsor and Detroit gets little comment from Mulcair or Bob Rae, interim leader of the Liberal party. Even when our prime minister does the right thing for Canada, he gets no respect from this pair of negative nabobs.
Harper stood up to the Americans on the Keystone XL pipeline and our oil interests. He stood up to Argentina on the right of the Falkland Islanders to decide their own fate. He refused to back the International Monetary Fund on its wish to bail out European countries.
He told Canadians to tighten their belts and he changed the rules for the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation so that rich people will have to pony up more cash for their mansions.
This prime minister is a leader and not afraid to make unpopular decisions because they are the right decisions.
These are decisions for Canada. When we check out the situation in countries around the world, we can be thankful for our prime minister. Hold the course, Mr. Harper.
