Keeping criminals in business

Your photo accompanying the April 3 story Police comb fatal scene depicts a complete waste of police manpower and taxpayers' money.

The current thinking by the Harper Conservatives is to increase the funding to criminal gangs by ensuring that their cash cow, marijuana, remains illegal. It must be frustrating to be police officers, knowing that their intellectually challenged political masters actually help manufacture the major crimes that they later have to clean up.

On the upside, however, it does make for great job creation in the criminal justice and prison system. Perhaps they should consider raising the old-age pension requirement to 80 or 90 to cover these extra costs.
