Letter of the Day
Like father, unlike son
Unimpeachably impressive in the mirror, but with a parliamentary history utterly devoid of material policy positions from which to be judged, Trudeau the Younger stands in sharp contrast to his once lionized father (Trudeau's son sets sights on top job, Oct. 3).
"Reason over passion" was PET's celebrated personal philosophy. Whether they were liked or hated, his openly contentious ideas on how best to run the country were reliably present in the public forum. Unfortunately, all that Justin has offered the electorate is a thin, Canadianized version of Barack Obama's "audacity of hope."
His contradictory, wholly inverted "passion over reason" platform conveys both faulty Trudeauvian logic and shakier political ground upon which to select a national leader. How times have changed.
