I was at the Minnesota Wild home game against the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night. The place was packed with Jets fans, as was to be expected.

The pre-game festivities featured a good time with good-natured banter. The Minnesota fans respectfully listened to the Canadian national anthem, as we always do when Canadian teams visit. Then the U.S. national anthem was played.

To my surprise and dismay, the Jets fans completely disrespected the American anthem. What a disappointment to hear Canadians show no respect for our anthem.

To come to our country and be guests in our house and disrespect our national song is shocking. Your fans need to grow up. We are glad you have the NHL back in Winnipeg, but the lack of respect shown by your fans leaves a terrible impression.

Please let me say how much I enjoyed seeing so many Jets fans at the Xcel Energy Center Thursday night. Winnipeg and Minnesota have a common denominator -- they have both lost NHL franchises.

I want to say the Winnipeg fans were great and did nothing but add to the great sport of hockey, which we all so much enjoy. Thank you for coming to Minnesota to enjoy your Jets.

I hope I will get to travel to your great city of Winnipeg and watch the Wild play in the near future. As far as I am concerned, you do your city a great service. Thank you.
