Letter of the Day

Mature beyond his years

  • Print

Thank you for publishing what surely must be the most wonderful photograph in 2012, He ain't heavy ... he's my brother (Dec. 29). Ruth Bonneville's photograph of 13-year-old Griffin carrying his younger brother, Tyler, across a schoolyard expresses such emotion, compassion, caring and beauty that words alone are not adequate to describe it.

What a truly wonderful person Griffin must be to emote such love and eloquence in his feelings towards his brother. He is, without a doubt, a young man much older than his years, already so much of an adult that we others can only aspire to his heights of maturity. What fine parenting he must have received, and still be receiving, to have reached this level of love and understanding.
