Ownership comes with cost

Gordon Sinclair's May 15 column, Some can't afford humane thing to do, presents his opinion on what should be done when someone cannot afford to take care of an animal they have made a choice to own. Life is full of choices, some right and some wrong.

If owning or acquiring something comes with a cost, the decision on whether to accept the responsibility is up to the individual. But making someone else responsible for your choice is a naive or childlike action.

If the need of this individual to care for another life is so great, there are other avenues he could explore, such as volunteering at the very place Sinclair suggests he look to cover the costs of his responsibility.

At the Winnipeg Humane Society, he can play with, walk or help the animals to his heart's content and not look for someone else to pay for his decision.
