Letter of the Day
Photos show skill and artistry
I don't know how much Gerald Flood knows about photography, but he is certainly alone in his opinion that L.B. Foote was not a great photographer who took only "snapshots," as he writes in his short review of our book of Foote photographs Imagining Winnipeg (Watch where you set the coffee with these beautiful books, Dec. 1).
Many well-known photographers, filmmakers and artists, including Guy Maddin and John Paskievich, have made clear their admiration for Foote's skill and artistry. I think they and many others would agree with photographer Bryan Scott, who writes in the Lost Foote Photos blog that "Winnipeg has never looked more glorious than it does in the photographs of L.B. Foote."

I hope Flood will take the time for a second look at Imagining Winnipeg to discover what a consummate and original photographer Foote was.
