Search speaks well of us

Re: Police to sift landfill for body (Aug. 9). The search for the remains of Tanya Jane Nepinak speaks well of the City of Winnipeg Police Service specifically and Manitobans and Canadians generally.

Though the dollar cost will be high and the manpower required significant, the noble effort underscores that in a democratic nation a single lost life retains the spiritual profundity that all humans rightly deserve.

May the search for Nepinak be successful so the body will be returned to the family to be buried with respect, empathy and dignity.
