Letter of the day: Supporting what's right

  • Print

Re: It's the kind of face many fear (Oct. 8). Here's to Gordon Sinclair and the Winnipeg Free Press for the courage and the journalistic ability to write and publish such a compelling article about Jim Neilson, and about our often-hidden racism toward First Nations people.

Air Canada made an enormous blunder, which they are trying strategically and politically to repeal. Sadly, Air Canada's executive and staff likely reflect their ignorance and misunderstanding about our aboriginal neighbours. They will be the poorer for that.

Aboriginal elders have often shown us that they have the strength and ability to -- once again -- rise above Air Canada's behaviour.

Perhaps Air Canada's shameful reactions help us as Canadians support what is right about our country -- respect, compassion and understanding for all cultures.
