Re: Next CBA crucial to Jets' success (Nov. 14). Gary Lawless's statement that the best thing for the Winnipeg Jets is to wait or even lose the season to be successful as a franchise is one of the most brainless comments I've heard since the lockout started.
The Jets depend on support from the business community and the fan base, both of which are getting fed up with what is going on right now. Businesses that revolve around hockey are hurting, and to say it's good to lose the season just shows that no one really cares about the people who support this game.
As a season-ticket holder, when I walk in to the MTS Centre, I feel the guys that are running this place know what they are doing. Most of the time I've dropped an orange bill before I've even got to my seat.
These guys run a good ship and they know how to make money. I don't think the Jets will have any trouble making a go of it as long as they provide a competitive and entertaining team.
As far as winning a Stanley Cup goes, I think it's been proven in the past the high-paid stars will get you to the playoffs, but it's the third- and fourth-line muckers that will win you the Stanley Cup.
