The body of honest and ethical municipal government is now decomposing at city hall. Too many times have major projects run over budget without adequate oversight and accountability, or apparent conflicts of interest are whitewashed, and city councillors' response is to begin distancing themselves from the self-inflicted mess.
They have always voted to approve these disasters after the fact when it's been too late to do anything. Time for a new broom to sweep out city hall, and maybe a provincial inquiry like the one in Quebec to uncover the source of this odour enveloping our municipal governance.
Do the three monkeys from the sculpture outside the former chief administrative officer's door have names?
Perhaps they should be called Sheegl, Katz and Douglas. These men also don't seem to find anything wrong with their actions.
