Assessment shows SFX CC to be in good shape

  • Print

An engineering report done on the St. Francois Xavier Community Club states that the building is structurally sound.

The report reads, "In our opinion, the overall condition of the building is good as compared to buildings of similar age and construction."

Club president Jay Jaskiewicz is pleased with results of the 46-year-old building’s assessment conducted by Genivar Inc. He accompanied engineers during part of their inspection.

"They were pretty impressed right from the get-go," he said.

The building assessment was completed under authority of the Multiplex Feasibility Committee formed to investigate the need for multiplex development in the municipality. The committee was disbanded following a council vote on March 5.

Jaskiewicz said there are no plans to expand the existing club building now, but the report mentions that an expansion to the current structure is possible from an engineering point of view.
