Springstein resident Laura Ruppel recently donated an award of $1,000 to the Starbuck Recreation Association.
An online credit specialist with RBC Royal Bank’s Winnipeg Contact Centre, Ruppel was selected to receive a Regional Presidents Community Leadership Award.
The award program recognizes and rewards employees within RBC Royal Bank in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and northwestern Ontario who contribute their enthusiasm, energy and time to making a positive difference in the lives of others, in their community, in their local market or with their colleagues.
Awards are presented semi-annually in response to nominations submitted by peers and market leaders. Each recipient receives a framed certificate, a community leadership pin and $1,000 to donate to the federally registered charity of their choice.
Ruppel voluntarily served on a number of community boards, including the Starbuck Recreation Association board, Springstein Community Club and the Starbuck Home and School Association. She has helped with numerous community events and fundraisers.
"My children attend Starbuck school and my husband and I are active community members," Ruppel said. "I curl and the boys love to skate, play soccer and baseball. The recreation board is key to all of these activities and brings the community together. "
