It was a storybook finish in Bob Agnew’s final game as head coach of the Pembina Valley Hawks AAA bantam hockey team.
The Hawks played the Winnipeg Sharks on Dec. 23, and had to overcome a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2.
A career opportunity forced Agnew to make the difficult decision to step-down from his post.
Following the game, he spoke about his earlier hopes to have a .500 win-loss record at this point in the season: a goal the team surpassed.
Mike Bellisle, who guided last year’s Hawks team to a championship, will take over as head coach for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
The bantam Hawks are now within reach of fourth place in the league with a 9-7 record.
As of Jan. 11, the Hawks have seven league games left in the season.
