Bernie Chabot is proud that his family’s business was recently recognized at the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce’s 2013 MBiz Awards.
Chabot Implements won first place in the rural long term achievement category at the MBiz Awards ceremony on Oct. 17.
Chamber president and chief executive officer Chuck Davidson said the competition’s mandate is to recognize businesses which are making a difference in their communities.
Chabot Implements is a fourth-generation farm implement company which also sells lawn and garden equipment, ATVs and snowmobiles at its locations in Elie, Portage la Prairie, Neepawa and Steinbach. It’s the oldest Case IH dealer in Manitoba.
"It was a surprise," said Chabot.
He added that being honoured as a long-term business was very special, since the company’s future was in doubt 37 years ago when his parents were killed in a car accident. He’s very pleased the business survived that tragedy, and has continued to grow over the years.
