Club offers socializing and healthy food for seniors

  • Print

Macdonald seniors who wish to socialize with their peers and share some healthy meals can join the Rendez Vous Club.

Organized by Macdonald Services to Seniors’ resource co-ordinator Leanne Wilson, the club is held once a week for five weeks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Sanford Legion. After the five weeks end, participants can sign on for another five weeks before taking a summer break.

Wilson said the program gives people, who might live alone, the chance to get together, take part in some easy physical and mental exercises and enjoy a hearty lunch.

"Everyone’s attending for their own reasons," she said.
Nine people are now registered, with most in their 70s and 80s. There’s no age limit.

People are asked to get to the club on their own, but Wilson said she can arrange for a pick-up if necessary.

The registration fee is $50. Call Wilson at 204-735-3052 to register or for more information. She is also looking for volunteers to help with the Rendez Vous Club.
