Convenience a plus for Headingley business
AMC Foam Technologies expects to open its new headquarters in Headingley’s Commercial Park next fall.
"Everyone at AMC is excited about our new facility and our future," said company president Tom Smerchanski.
AFC Foam Technologies manufactures Logix ICF, a leading insulated concrete foam system in North America and other engineered products made from expandable foam plastics.
After renting space in Winnipeg for the past 16 years, the company has outgrown its current location and Smerchanski is eager to move its operations into the 115,000-sq. ft. building now under construction just north of the Trans-Canada Highway.
"Headingley was chosen for numerous reasons: the most compelling were no business tax and the availability of industrial lots that are fully serviced with hydro, gas, sewer and high-speed Internet," said Smerchanski, adding that the RM of Headingley has a business-friendly attitude.
He added the close proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway and CenterPort make the new location an ideal manufacturing and distribution point for Central Canada and the Upper Midwest region of the U.S.
Headingley reeve Wilf Taillieu said he is pleased to welcome the company to the area and is happy to see any new businesses relocating within the municipality.
Between 50 and 55 people will be employed when the facility opens, with additional employees to be added as production requires.
