Manitobans will go to the polls to elect municipal mayors, reeves and councillors along with school division trustees on Wed., Oct. 22.
Senior elections official for the RMs of Rosser, St. Francois Xavier and Macdonald Ernie Epp said potential candidates must be aware that they can’t spend any money on or accept donations or loans for their campaign until they officially register as a candidate.
"The province put some new rules in place for the 2010 election that many people may still not be aware of," Epp stated in a news release on the RM of Rosser’s website. "It is important to know that until a person registers, he or she is not authorized to spend any amount on campaigning."
Epp said it is also important to know if you aren’t on the voters list, you can’t register, so check with the municipality to make sure you are on the list.
Cartier Acting CAO Virginia Beckwith and Headingley CAO Chris Fulsher are the senior elections
