Hartle versus the Dragons
A young Marquette woman might have been burned by the dragons, but she harbours no ill will towards them.
Katie Hartle, 26, appeared on the March 7 episode of the CBC TV program Dragons’ Den to pitch her friendmatch.ca website.
Although the Dragons — Canadian entrepreneurs Jim Trevliving, Kevin O’Leary, Arlene Dickinson, Robert Herjavex and Bruce Croxon — were not interested in providing Hartle with $100,000 for a 40% stake in her company, she said the promotion she received was well worth the experience.
"Not only was it a super fun experience, but the exposure you get through Dragons’ Den is alone worth it," she said.
"I believe that the show is one of the top-rated shows on CBC and when you think about it that way, the exposure I got was probably worth more than the money I asked for. I am calling it a win."
Hartle said visits to her website have been up significantly since the episode aired. It now receives about 300 unique visitors each day.
