Mark June 8 on your calendars, as that is when the St. Francois Xavier Community Club is holding its summer carnival.
The fun begins at 11 a.m. with a children’s bicycle parade starting at Cuthbert Grant Park and finishing at the community club. There will be bouncers, kids’ games, a dunk tank, hay rides, face painting, a dog trick show, and a reptile petting zoo and show. Hot dogs, hamburgers and snacks will be sold.
The beer garden will be open all day, with a roast pig dinner served at 5:30 p.m.
A live band, fiddlers and a world-champion jigger will perform.
The day will end with a fireworks display at dusk.
The community club members are still looking for corporate sponsorship for individual events. All sponsors are acknowledged at the carnival and are able to advertise at the event.
Organizer Dwayne Clark said one of the goals for the event is to make it affordable for all families and the committee members have worked very hard to do this.
