Keeping it ladies-only at La Salle fundraiser

  • Print

Organizers of the first ladies night social in La Salle are hoping the weather warms up so they won’t be shivering in their grass skirts.

A Hawaiian-themed social is planned for May 10 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the La Salle Community Centre, and all local women are invited.

La Salle resident Leticia Verrier said this is the first ladies-only social that’s been held in the community, but she has attended others and enjoyed them.

"We were looking for something new," she said, adding that money raised will be split between the La Salle Community Centre and La Salle Kidz Inc.

Verrier is on the board of Kidz Inc., a group formed about four years ago to work on having a government-licensed daycare opened in the community. She said part of the struggle to get a daycare centre is finding a suitable location.

She’s hoping that local women with young children will come out to the social to support a worthy cause while having a fun night out.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Jeni’s Food and Hardware in La Salle or by calling Verrier at 204-218-0563 or Jenn Penner at 204-736-2077.
