All the officers of the La Salle Community Centre held onto their positions at the centre’s annual general meeting on Feb. 18.
James Pollard retains the president’s role, with Gary Romijn as vice-president and Chris Lippens treasurer.
Returning secretary Brian Cornelsen attributed this to the executive members’ continuing commitment to overseeing the construction of a new community centre building.
"I think that a lot of the people on the board want to finish what they started," he said.
The building’s design is being finalized, with construction scheduled to start later this month. The $3.5 million project includes a gymnasium/hall, exercise and activity rooms, change and washrooms for indoor and outdoor activities, a new outdoor rink, upgrades to four baseball diamonds, changes to the football and soccer fields and provisions for outdoor tennis and basketball courts.
Cornelsen said the current centre will remain open, with the fields available for outdoor sports, until the new building is ready for use.
