La Salle businesses prepare for Home and Life Show
Getting known within the community is the benefit for business owners signing up for the La Salle Chamber of Commerce’s Home and Life Show.
"One of the big things is having the opportunity to network," said chamber vice-president Kurt Cormier.
The second annual Home and Life Show is scheduled for April 13 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Kingswood Golf & Country Club in La Salle. Cormier said 28 exhibitors participated in last year’s show that attracted about 175 visitors.
"It gives you a forum to meet potential customers," Cormier said. With La Salle’s continuing growth, each year brings newcomers who might not be aware of the products and services available locally.
Joelle Regnier, with accounting firm Talbot & Associates located in St. Norbert, gave a tax tips presentation at the 2012 show.
"It was nice to get a feel for what was available in the community," she said.
Regnier also joined the La Salle Chamber of Commerce to get to know other businesspeople in the area.
Cormier’s father Ray was one a group of six local business owners who started the chamber in 1990 to lobby the municipal government for improvements to La Salle’s main street. However, after a few years of running a Christmas lights contest and starting a trades list, the chamber became inactive until two years ago.
Cormier is hoping others will sign up, as the chamber’s area includes the entire RM of Macdonald. Now with 45 business members and 10 organizations and individual members on its roll, Cormier said the chamber continues to evolve.
