New resource co-ordinator for seniors named in Cartier

  • Print

Lin Smitzniuk is the new resource co-ordinator for the Cartier Senior Citizens Support Committee.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to pursue this new career at this time of my life," said Smitzniuk.

She and her husband ran a family business in Pine Falls for 10 years. After their children grew up, they sold and moved to Poplar Point.

Smitzniuk’s office is located in the Elie Medical Clinic, and she said her door is always open to anyone with questions or who is in need of assistance. Her work activities require that she often leave the office, but messages can be left at 204-353-2470.

The committee has an 11-passenger van to use for outings. Smitzniuk said she’s planning some fun trips for local seniors. These excursions are open to anyone who is 55 and over and a resident of the RM of Cartier.

"With the expected nicer weather ahead, I look forward to taking trips to Goldeyes games, Assiniboia Downs racing, casinos and Assiniboine Park Zoo to name a few," she said.

She asks local seniors to watch for the committee’s monthly event calendar, including weekly meal programs offered in Elie and St. Eustache. Smitzniuk will send the monthly calendar by email at the beginning of each month if you contact her at cscsc@mymts.net.

She said she looks forward to meeting residents of Elie and the surrounding communities.
