If Larry Manson had to choose a theme song it would likely be Let It Snow!
Manson is an organizer for the Macdonald Cross Country Ski Club, an informal group of residents in the rural municipality who enjoy cross-country skiing and checking out new trails around the province.
A long-time ski enthusiast, Manson decided six years ago to see if others local skiers were interested in joining together to plan outings.
"I thought, wouldn’t it be neat to get a little group together," he said. "There’s a few of us who put our heads together and come up with places we’d like to ski."
Age is no barrier and all family members are welcome to participate.
This winter, Manson is organizing an outing to Pinawa. Other possible destinations include Grand Beach, Spruce Woods and Pumpkin Creek.
In addition, the club is hoping to host an instructional clinic if there is sufficient interest among skiers.
The club’s plans are governed by weather conditions, but the early November snowfall gives Manson hope that the ski trails will be well-covered this year.
The group is supported by the Macdonald-Headingley Recreation District which helps to advertise its activities. For more information, contact the district office at 204-885-2444 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
