RM of Macdonald CAO Tom Raine said the municipality is as prepared as possible for flooding this spring.
Municipal equipment, such as steamers to thaw frozen culverts, is ready for deployment, and sand and sand bags are ordered.
Raine said the latest provincial flood forecast contains an increased risk of high water levels along the La Salle River which winds through the municipality, but the predictions are nothing like those of 1997, when the area was seriously impacted by overland flooding from the Red River.
He added thatt the municipality will help anyone whose property is threatened.
A rapid spring melt will increase the flood danger in Macdonald.
