Recycling carts on order for Macdonald

  • Print

Oak Bluff, Starbuck, Sanford, Brunkild, La Salle and Domain residents will soon be able to wheel their recycling to the roadside.

CAO Tom Raine said the council decided to hire Emterra Waste Management to pick up recycling within the RM of Macdonald’s communities after the previous recycling service contract expired at the end of 2013.

"We could have continued to use blue boxes or it was an opportunity to move the recycling program one step ahead with rolling bins," Raine said.

While residents are now still using blue boxes, Raine said the new recycling carts are expected to be delivered within the next few weeks.

He said the carts provide more space than the boxes and will also prevent recycled material from being blown away.

Rural residents will continue to use the recycling depots at the Starbuck and Sanford disposal sites.
