By using your smart phone, a walk along Headingley’s Grand Trunk Trail will soon be more educational.
Grand Trunk Trail Association chair Diana Juchnowski said 10 interpretive video stations are being placed along the trail. Each will contain a QR code, and if scanned with a smart phone, will connect to a video highlighting a specific aspect of the trail, such as the plants and wildlife that can be seen.
"The purpose of the stations is to educate the viewer even more about nature along the trail," she said.
Biologist Heather Hinam, who provided information for the recently-opened kiosk in Riverview Park, is designing the content of the videos, and might serve as the narrator.
The stations will focus on topics including the evening soundscape, wild grasses and the ecosystem of a tree.
Juchnowski said the first station could be in place later this year, with the others to follow in the spring and summer.
