Jaime Barron is collecting artwork for a sale that will benefit young patients in the isolation unit at Winnipeg’s Children’s Hospital.
The Art 4 Hope event is an art sale being held at The Forks Market on Sept. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Barron will be selling donated paintings and photographs created by local artists, with all the proceeds going to the Children’s Hospital.
Although the Elie resident is thankful none of her three children have used the isolation unit, she knows of others who have. She hopes to raise money to buy new equipment for the unit.
She has set a top goal of $5,000, but said, "I think that anything would be wonderful."
"Right now we have eight large pieces and three small pieces," said Barron, adding that she hopes to collect another five or six. Her collection includes a photograph by Stacy Mercier and painting by Christine Deckert.
Barron has been involved in previous fundraising activities, and says she enjoys working for a good cause.
