Sanford Sabres salute their athletes once again

Sanford Collegiate held its fifth Sabres Salute Athletic Banquet on May 23 at the Oak Bluff Hall.
The function recognized and honoured athletes who displayed outstanding performances on their teams throughout the 2012-2013 school year.


The first award of the evening acknowledged Kesiuke Moromoto, a new Grade 12 student from Japan who, without hesitation, dedicated his time and displayed hard work in both cross-country and track and field.    


The following is a list of several other awards presented throughout the evening.


Da Mezz award: Jordan Martens, Bronson Ammeter and Tyler Cormier


The Golden Glove Boxing award:  Tyler Cormier and Breanna Murner


Dirty Pinnie award: Codi Laschewicz, Chase Kendall, Chad Miller, Riley Elke, Fraser Mirelles and Ben Gilmore


Golf award – MVP: Steven Young


Cross-country – MVP: Riley Elke , Coaches award – Ben Dalke


Girls Soccer – MVP: Paige Klatt; Coaches’ award: Breanna Murner and Taylor Leonzio


Boys Soccer – MVP: Lukas Schulz; Coaches’ award: Riley Poole; Rookie of year: TJ Baldwin


JV Girls Volleyball – MVP: Haley Yurkiw; Coaches’ award: Layne Marshalok; Most Improved: Joelle Payette


JV Boys Volleyball – MVP: Kaden Warkentin; Coaches’ award: Nick Reinsch; Rookie of the Year: Travis Reinsch


Senior Girls Volleyball – MVP: Joanne Fossay; Most Improved: Jade Nichiporick; Coaches’ award: Julia Johnson


Senior Boys Volleyball – MVP: Tanner Pouteau; Most Improved: Ethan Rohl; Coaches’ award: Bronson Ammeter
