A group of youth from La Salle and Morris attended a Manitoba Missions experience in Winnipeg during spring break entitled SOAR Heartland.

They left March 22 and returned on March 30. On the first full day of SOAR, they took part in something called an urban plunge, where they walked through downtown Winnipeg and learned about some of the negative things that were occurring, as well as some of the positive things.
The purpose of this urban plunge was to make what is happening in the inner city seem more real to the youth.

From March 26 until March 30, they then involved themselves in something called ministry week, where they went to Living Bible Explorers to build relationships and work with kids from the inner city. The ministry week gave SOAR participants a new insight into what some of the kids go through on a day-to-day basis.

Something awesome will be happening for all youth from grades six to 12 at the Starbuck Hall on April 21. An event called the Meridian Youth Rally, which has been organized by Steven Bock as well as other church representatives from around the area will be offered that day. In order to get in, there is a $10 entrance fee. This includes a meal and a T-shirt. There will be a film festival, a concert with a performance by the band Reinstate and a talk by speaker Justin Willems about his faith. The event is open to all youth from the rural municipalities of Macdonald, Glenlea, Springstein and Fennystelle.

Another interesting event for adults to attend on April 21 is the Home and Live Show, which has been organized by the La Salle and Area Chamber of Commerce (www.lasalleonline.ca). The event is from noon to 4 p.m. and will feature local businesses providing some exciting demos.

Featured businesses who will include Cormier’s Berry Patch, S3 Interiors and more. There will also be prize draws offered and children’s programming for kids between the ages of three and 10 at the La Salle Community Fellowship Church.
