Women’s Volleyball’s Brittany Habing and Track and Field’s Cody Mages are the University of Manitoba’s Bisons of the week ending in Feb. 16.
Habing, setter for the Bisons, contributed to her team’s play-off wins over the Alberta Pandas Feb. 14 and Feb. 15. The Canada West Quarter final weekend was hosted by the Bisons was the scores being 3-1 on both nights.
Habing, a River East Collegiate graduate, starting and playing the entire weekend, had 79 assists, 20 digs, seven blocks, four kills, and nine points in the weekend. The Science major is in her third year of eligibility and second in the western conference with 9.88 assists per set.
Mages is a middle distance runner for the Bison’s Track and Field team. At the McGill University Last Chance Meet in Montreal on Feb. 15 the Garden City Collegiate graduate finished second in the 600-metre run. His time was 1:20.36 moving him up to sixth fastest in the Canada West ranking and can now qualify for the 2014 CIS Championship in Alberta on March 6 to 8.
