Call for Volunteer Awards is open
Lawrence Toet hopes to help volunteers in his constituency gain some national recognition.
The Elmwood-Transcona MP invited Canadians to nominate volunteers in their communities for the Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards. Individuals or groups of volunteers are welcome to be nominated, as are businesses and non-profit organizations.
Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony, and can recommend an eligible non-profit organization for a regional $5,000 grant or a national $10,000 grant.
"The spirit of volunteerism is thriving in Elmwood-Transcona," Toet said in a release. "We have so many who give so much of their time for those around them. I encourage residents to consider whom they might nominate for their exceptional service."
Nominations are due by April 15. Nomination forms and more information are available at www.pm.gc.ca/awards.
