East Elmwood soon to get a taste of Goodlife
East Elmwood will soon have a brand-new place to get in shape.
National fitness chain Goodlife Fitness is set to open a multilevel location at 1610 Regent Ave. W. on Jan. 11.
Club manager Brett Mann said even though attractions like the shiny new equipment and plasma-television theatre in the cardio section are major pluses for members, she feels the biggest difference between her gym and others is how Goodlife employees bend over backwards to help people.
"For me, personally, what sets Goodlife apart is our culture is about caring about our members," she said. "Everything that we do from the front desk to even our fitness advisors, our salespeople is really focused on understanding the needs and goals of our members and helping them achieve them.
"At the end of the day, it comes down to that service and that caring to help people."
After creating a workout plan suited to a member’s needs, staff members will help familiarize that person with the necessary equipment and programs during a tour.
"We understand that when people walk into the gym, for 99% of the population, that’s a really intimidating, sometimes scary thing to do," she said. "You don’t walk in necessarily knowing what you need to do."
Mann added fitness advisors make a point of ensuring that members are on track, checking in at the 24-hour, one-week, three-week and six-week marks.
The Regent location will feature more than just a gym, as it will boast a tanning salon, sauna, and a lounge area with massage chairs.
"I always tell people ‘Have your workout, then shower, sauna, (sit in the) massage chairs," Mann said. "Make it a workout spa day."
The gym will be open 24 hours a day, and staff will be available at all times.
Several different types of memberships will be available. Prices will vary depending on whether members want to attend other locations and what types of programs they would like to participate in. As part of its grand opening, the club is offering a base individual membership at a minimum of $10.50 per week.
Mann added the club will hold a grand opening party with Goodlife owner David Patchell-Evans on Jan. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. The party is open to the public.
Individuals looking for more information can call 204-654-9973 or visit the presentation centre set up next to the club’s location.
