The Good Neighbours Active Living Centre is inviting members of the public out for a wonderful week.

The centre, located at 720 Henderson Hwy., is holding an open house from Sept. 9 to 14 where 13 sessions of various classes will be offered for free. As well, 10 drop-in sessions will be offered without charge. Drop-ins are regularly $1 for members and $2 for non-members.

GNALC program co-ordinator Vanessa Lambert said the centre made a conscious effort to offer a session of each of its new offerings for free. New classes that will have a free session include chair yoga (Sept. 9 from 11:10 to 11:40 a.m.), drums alive (Sept. 9 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.), circuit training (Sept. 12 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.), and write your life story (Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon).

Write your life story class will help attendees with their memoirs, and Lambert noted there’s no limit as to what can become of the story.

"Some (writers), down the road, can develop them into a published book as well," she said.

Lambert hopes to bring in 100 new people to try out the group’s programs, but didn’t have an estimate about how many new memberships she hopes the open house will generate. Memberships cost $30 per year.

In addition to the free classes, tours and opportunities to meet the centre’s staff will be offered.

For a complete list of free classes or for more information, visit www.gnalc.ca or call the centre at 204-669-1710. Registration is not required.
