The Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) is looking for 3,800 volunteers across the province — and 2,300 in Winnipeg — to assist with its annual door-to-door campaign in February.
After amassing $581,000 this past winter, organizers noted they hope the 2014 campaign will net $700,000 provincially to fund heart disease and stroke research. The foundation does not receive core government or United Way funding, according to a release.
"We depend on our volunteers during the door-to-door campaign. Securing canvassers, as early as possible, allows us to determine routes, send out canvasser kits, and prepare for the campaign far in advance," HSF provincial community fundraising programs manager Heather Carroll said in a release.
Volunteer positions include canvassers, area captains, and zone leaders.
