Northeast Winnipeg United churches hope to help make sure everyone is made happy by what’s under the tree this Christmas.
The sixth annual Just Christmas event will take place on Dec. 1 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at North Kildonan United Church (174 Pentland St.).
Organizers say the event is designed to help provide consumers with a place to purchase Christmas gifts that will help economic, social, and environmental justice initiatives.
Vendors at this year’s event include Reaching Across Borders, Women’s Sewing, New Hope Centre, Focus Africa, L’Arche Winnipeg, Marg’s Honey, Kay Seng Weaving, Grands ‘n’ More, Project Egypt, Little Travellers, Canadian Foods, and 1Hope Winnipeg.
"The vendors who come will either be selling fairly traded products, or selling products on behalf of a justice organization, or are someone who has committed to giving the profits of the day to a justice project," Rev. Jeff Cook of Transcona Memorial United Church, one of the event’s organizers, said in an email.
