A new clinic in Harbourview South opened its doors recently.
The Harbourview Medical Centre at 10-1320 Concordia Ave. E. opened for business on Aug. 18 inside the Harbourview Pharmacy, which itself opened last September.
The clinic is home to Drs. Vijay Sodhi and Abid Malik. Sodhi said the clinic fills a need in the neighbourhood.
"It’s fairly standard," said Sodhi, who worked in Crystal City, Man. and briefly at the Gateway Road Superstore before joining the clinic. "Usually it’s walk-in (appointments). We are still accepting patients."
Dr. Harjot Chohan, who co-owns the facility and serves as a pharmacist, explained there is a patient counselling room where patients can learn more about their medications, including whether other supplements will interact with the prescribed medication. She added she can provide some particular advice because of her educational specialization.
"I have a PhD in cardiac physiology," she explained, noting she previously worked at St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre.
Chohan added the pharmacy has a loyalty program where customers can earn one point per prescription, and five points for transferring prescriptions. The points can be redeemed for gift cards to various local businesses beginning at 10 points. Each point is worth $1 at the respective business.
The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To book an appointment, call 204-942-2234.
