Committee wants submissions for time capsule

The Transcona Centennial Celebration Committee has been pleased to oversee a number of events to commemorate Transcona’s 100th Anniversary.

One of the celebrations to have a lasting impression on our community will be a time capsule that will find its home at the newly-built Transcona Centennial Square, Archambault Pavilion. The Time Capsule Celebration will occur on Fri., April 12, 2013.

A Time Capsule Committee has been formed to manage the development and construction of the Time Capsule and what will go into it.

Our mission is to provide a "snapshot" of our Centennial Year, 2012, for future generations of Transcona residents. Our committee is asking you, the citizens of Transcona, to contribute an idea or item for entry into the capsule that will be opened in 2062.

Each community sector in Transcona has been asked to collectively determine items that will best represent its unique contribution to Transcona in our centennial year.

This is your chance to help leave a "snapshot" of life in Transcona in 2012. All ideas will be considered by the Transcona Time Capsule Committee based on guidelines we’ve researched over the last few months.

The size of the item and its ability to remain intact over 50 years will determine its suitability. Please remember that not all items can be included in the Time Capsule.

Please check the following webpage at www.transcona100.ca/liaisons--representatives.html for details regarding people to contact in the Community Sector you represent.

For guidelines regarding submissions that will be considered by the Time Capsule Committee, visit www.transcona100.ca/time-capsule--centennial-cairn.html

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to come together as a community as we take our "Community Snapshot of Transcona 2012". Deadline for submissions is only three short months away: Tues., Jan. 15, 2013.
