A Transcona-based country singer is organizing a major show to help out Siloam Mission.
Jason Petric, 24, will take to the stage at Cowboys Roadhouse (1034 Elizabeth Rd.) on Dec. 20 for the Pallister and Petric Xmas Party — an event he organized with Portage la Prairie product Bryce Pallister.
The show begins at 8 p.m. and will begin with a round of acoustic performances by Rhia Rae, David Pestrak, Shannon Patterson, Sol James, Luke Reimer, and Maxine Peters, while Doc Walker’s Dave Wasyliw, as well as Heather Longstaffe and Ross Roteliuk will make guest appearances. As well, Petric said former Warner Brothers recording artist Lane Turner (now with Original Signal Recordings) is slated to make an appearance.
Petric said he first got the idea of holding a Christmas show earlier this year, and decided to support Siloam Mission after hearing about its work from a volunteer.
"I figured we could have some fun and bring everybody together for Christmas," Petric said in a phone interview. "For volunteers to go in there (the mission), it was really fun and easy for them to go and volunteer their time."
Petric explained the evening will start with the acoustic performers taking turns doing songs for approximately an hour, while the full bands will begin gracing the stage at approximately 10 p.m.
"It’s a good way to get a lot of people involved, have all our friends come out and be a part of the show," Petric said. "We’ve done it at other shows around the city, and we found it gets a great response from the crowd. Everyone brings their little corner of people together."
Petric is putting his money where his mouth is, as he is slated to be one of 10 musicians scheduled to volunteer at Siloam on Dec. 16.
"They have 10 of us signed up, so whatever they choose to do, I’m excited to go do it," Petric said.
Tickets for the show are $5 and can be purchased at the front desk of the Canad Inns Destination Centre Windsor Park, which houses Cowboys.
