In the spirit of The Beatles, the community will come together for a musical fundraiser for Jocelyn House Hospice.
The 1st Annual Band Together Concert will be held on Thurs., Oct. 10 at the Park Theatre, located at 698 Osborne St.
Organizers say the concert — dubbed "I want to hold your hand - the songs of The Beatles" — will feature local artists and musical collaborations in support of the St. Vital-based hospice in the run-up to World Hospice and Palliative Care Day on Sat., Oct. 12.
At press time, the list of artists slated to perform includes Flo, Hot Stone Road, Marco Castillo, Jason Petric, Rhianna Rae, Kenny Shields, Lisa Windsor, Maxine Peters and Colin McTavish from The Treble.
Jocelyn House Hospice was founded by Bill and Miriam Hutton in 1985, in memory of their daughter, Jocelyn, a former Kelvin High School student who died of cancer at just 17.
Their daughter’s bravery and spirit in battling the disease inspired them to found Western Canada’s first free-standing hospice at their wooded, riverside family home on Egerton Road.
Tickets are $40 and available at the Park Theatre or by calling 204-334-8342.
