A local group of dog lovers is hoping to unleash some canine spirit at an upcoming community gathering.

The Maple Grove Park Dog Owners’ Association will hold a fall barbecue and membership drive event at Maple Grove Dog Park (190 Frobisher Rd.) in south St. Vital on Sun., Sept. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Organizers say the $5 admission price will get attendees a six-month membership, chips, a drink, a burger (meat or vegetarian) or hot dog and a door prize ticket.
