Around 160 individuals with an appetite for fine food and good music turned out for a free lunchtime concert on Provencher Boulevard on July 3.
Visitors to the first of this summer’s Mercredis en musique concerts, organized by Festival du Voyageur and Provencher Boulevard BIZ, basked in the sunshine, took in a musical performance by Sweet Alibi and enjoyed food by Promenade Café and Wine, which catered the event.
"It was a great success for the first show," said Irina Ivanov Bissonnette, Festival’s director of marketing and communications.
The free concerts will run every Wednesday until Aug. 28 in the Jardin de sculptures (219 Provencher Blvd.) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to bring chairs.
The concert and restaurant schedule includes D’Harmo (presented by the Winnipeg Folk Festival) and Le Garage on July 10, Paul Cargnello and Resto Gare on July 17, JP Hoe and Gibraltar Dining Corporation on July 24 and John K. Samson and Purple Hibiscus on July 31, organizers say.
